  • Summary of 2009

January: Started my student teaching and had a great trip to Tan-Tar-A as well as a great performance at Tan-Tar-A with Concert Chorale.

February: Student teaching and two of my friends got engaged to each other.

March: Finished block one of student teaching and started block two. Got elected as the new Alumni Secretary of Mu Phi Epsilon.

April: Student teaching and taking the GRE for grad school.

May: Finished my student teaching, graduated with my BME, went on tour with Chorale, and found out that I would be Dr. Webb's G.A.

June: Started packing up my stuff from the house and helped work Summer Choir Camp.

July: Went on vacation with my family to Disney World and helped work the Pleasant Hope Color Guard camp as well as the marching band camp the next week.

August: Moved into a new apartment with Drew and Connie, started my first semester of grad school, and spent a few days in a hospital bed...not my best month.

September: Megan and Josh's wedding and school...

October: I house sat and watched Snickers, celebrated my 22nd birthday, and had fun with some friends on Halloween.

November: Did Regional NATS in Northern Illinois and made it to the second round and I actually got to go home for Thanksgiving!

December: Finals, Caroling, Dinners, Mu Phi Christmas, Chorale Christmas, watched friends graduate, came home for Christmas. Unfortunately, on the 27th of this month, my great-grandma had a stroke and the doctors said it's just a matter of days.

It's been an interesting year, and sadly, I'm hesitant about the New Years mainly due to my great-grandma. It was hard visiting her today, because I'm pretty sure it will be the last time I see her. She had no clue I was there, and she was completely unresponsive, but it was worth getting to hold her hand one more time and to be able to give her a kiss and tell her I love her. She's lived a great life, and to see her make it to 2010 is more than we could have ever imagined. This next year may not start out so great, but I'm going to do everything I can to make it a great year, and one that my great-grandma Ruby would be proud of. Here's to surviving the first decade of the century, and to making this next one as wonderful as it can be!

  • Love it!

I have only been home since 9 a.m. today (Sunday), and I am already so glad to be back. I got to go to my home church, I had lunch and game time with the family, and I got to relax. To top it off, Drew and I went to Steak 'N' Shake and had coffee and then just drove around and talked, looked at houses and lights, and sang along with the radio. It's what we used to do in high school all the time, and it was just nice to be carefree tonight. It's the little things in life that make me happy. :) I love being home for break!!!!

  • Time to vent...

I am getting really, really frustrated with my living situation right now. Ugh!!! Quite a few things have bothered me lately, but this takes the cake. Where should I start?!

*Drew's sister, Page, will now be living with us for a month (or so) because the place she is staying at doesn't have heat. So now, I have someone living in our living room, taking up what little space I had outside of sharing a room with Drew already. To top it off, Drew asked if it was okay, while Page was standing right there. I just think that's a little rude. What was I supposed to say, "No. Sorry Page!"

*The only reason we decided to stay in this 2 bedroom instead of moving in January to the 3 bedroom is because Connie said that since she was student teaching in St. Louis in January, one of us could use her room. Well, tonight we started to talk about it, and she has changed her plans. Her stuff is staying here, and she has no intentions of sharing the room. FML! I did not agree to share this tiny ass room for 13 months!!!

*We can't agree on what temperature to keep the apartment at. They are cold, and I am hot, and I refuse to pay for the heat to be on 75 degrees all the time.

I need a sanity break!!!!! Anyone want to save me?!?!

  • Day 26

I am thankful to be in Farmington with my family for Thanksgiving. I love waking up and going downstairs to sit and drink coffee with my parents and watch the parade.

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
